Welcome back!
We all battle the ‘human condition’ a.k.a. The Flesh.
I just had a good example of this. My mother-in-law has a sort of radar and almost always calls when I have gone on line. Since our cell phone is the modem, calls do disrupt any attempt on working on blogs. I just went on line, of course she calls. Was the call impoortant? Nope, just wanted to talk. Each day at this time, I go online. She calls.
I try not to get irritated. It happens anyway. I try not to blow up when I find out the call was just to blather, sometimes it happens anyway. She knows that the minutes on the cell phone are limited, but that doesn’t stop her from calling and wanting to talk about - what she is going to eat, who called and what they talked about, what she is wearing. We took her to the store yesterday, we also visited for an hour afterwards. We talk to her every day, yet still she calls when I’ve gone online. I change the time when I do this, she calls. The flesh wants to rant and rave about the minutes used for blather. The Spirit reminds me that she is lonely and doesn’t know when I’ve gone online.
It is a battle every day to over-rule the flesh and not get upset over big things or little things. Paul reminded us that is is a daily battle to live in the Spirit and not in the flesh.
Proverbs 14:29 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
It is hard sometimes to NOT give way to the flesh. There are rewards to letting the Spirit rule, not the flesh.
2 Peter 3:18 Grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen
Biting my tongue might get painful at times, but not letting the anger or frustration get the better of me is much better in the long run. Once words are spoken, they cannot be taken back and treated as if they do not exist. Those words would hang in the sir to either create bad feelings, unless those words were kind. I do not always choose wisely myself. Sometimes the ‘human condition’ does try to interfere.
