Welcome back!
Do you feel it is hard to pray?Have you ever thought about what prayer is?
The easiest way to describe prayer is to call it talking with God. Notice the ‘with’ in my sentence. It took me a while to think about it myself. Over 28 years in fact. I only understood a little when I re-read Jesus’ high priestly prayer in John 17.
He talked to His Father. He talked. When we talk to others, what do we do? We share our thoughts. Sometimes we share very deep feelings. The person that we share with also shares back. I know that sometimes we do not always listen properly to the other person. I’m guilty. Sometimes, I have things that bother me so intensely that I have trouble focusing on any thing else but those problems. When that happens, I’m not listening to the other person. When the other person is God, I get into trouble because I don’t hear His answer.
I don’t always hear His answers, I’m human after all. He enjoys talking with us. So many times prayer is mentioned in His book, the Bible. That means that prayer is important. The next time that you decide to pray, don’t forget to listen in return. Quiet time is good for that.
